| SCIPIO GUITARS is a workshop that builds, restores and repairs acoustic and electric guitars and electric bass guitars. It was realized in 1995 after six years of running the repair department at Mandolin Brothers, the renowned vintage stringed instrument store on Staten Island, NY. The idea behind the shop is simple-whether it is a basic adjustment, repair, modification, or major restoration, the aim is to concentrate on the individual instrument without preconceived notions of "what it is supposed to sound like"
Through my experiences as a repairman at the Guild Guitar factory, Mandolin Brothers, and working in private practice I've had the rare pleasure of handling a large variety of American, Asian and European fretted instruments. Before 1986, when I got hired at the Guild factory in Rhode Island as a repairman, I was primarily interested in building guitars.
